    12 women stripped naked in a protest before the Kangla fort in Manipur on 11th July, 2004. These mothers or “Imas” also known as "Meira Paibis" or “women torch bearers” were protesting the rape and extra-judicial murder of 32 year old Thangjum Manorama.
